At the end of the first age it was time for Elrond to choose his race. He chose Elven-kind, and in doing so had the gifts of great wisdom and the power of perception bestowed upon him. During the SA Elrond dwelt in Lindon with Gil-Galad until, in SA 1695, he was sent to Eregion to help Middle Earth in its defense against Sauron. When Eregion dell, Elrond left and founded Imladris (Rivendell). In TA 100 he married Celebrian, daughter of Celeborn and Galadriel, and they were blessed with three children. Elrond was also the keeper of the ring Vilya, one of the 3 elven rings of power. After the War of the Ring, Elrond sailed to the Undying Lands with Gandalf and Frodo, but without his daughter Arwen, who chose to remain in Middle Earth to be with Aragorn.
