Brief Background: Said by many to carry the likeness of Luthien, Arwen resided in Rivendell and Lothlorien for roughly 3000 years before she met Aragorn, future King of Gondor. She gave her heart to the mortal man she loved, making the difficult descision to forsake the immortal life of her people so they could be together. However, when Aragorn joined the Fellowship, she then had to face the horrible possibility that he may not survive the battles which lay ahead of him. Defying the wishes of her father, Arwen remained in Middle Earth when the rest of her kin travelled to the Undying Lands.

After the War of The Ring, Arwen married Aragorn and became Queen of Gondor, bearing him a son, Eldarion, and several daughters. Following Aragorn's death in FO120, she travelled to Lorien and there she remained until the following winter when she too died.

Arwen is portrayed by Liv Tyler in all three of the Lord of the Rings movies
